Best. Biennale. Ever.
Since I met and interviewed director Edoardo De Angelis and his beautiful star Angela and Marianna Fontana, their film Indivisibili went on to win Best Film in the Venice Days section of the Venice Film Festival, and screen at the Toronto Film Festival. It’s also been selected for the London Film Festival and is one of the 7 films being considered to be sent to the Oscars.
When I wasn’t watching movies I was with my favorite Venetians at the best restaurant in Venice, Hostaria Da Franz. Owner Maurizio makes the best fish in a totally seafood town, and he never complains when this vegetarian asks for something without meat of fish. He’s the best.
I didn’t just choose Italian movies, though most of them were, and the ones I went to were carefully selected. A highlight was seeing Natalie Portman in Jackie.
There was nothing more fun than talking with the director and actors from Il Più Grande Sogno. This was my favorite film at the festival and I can’t wait until it comes to the USA. Here I am with Mirko Frezza, director Michele Vannucci, and Ciak Magazine’s #25 on the power list, Alessandro Borghi.

I have been a huge fan and Facebook friend of young Maria Roveran, star of Giuseppe Piccioni’s Questi Giorni (These Days) since I saw her at the 2013 Venice Film Festival at the screening of Piccola Patria; I finally got to talk to her in person!
Another non- Italian film we chose to see was Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts in The Bleeder, Brian’s fav.
How much fun is this? Watching Roan Johnson’s Piuma with him and the whole cast in the audience made it even better.
Oh, Margherita Buy. I’m just happy I got through the interview with this huge star without fainting!
