Director Paolo VIrzì is the I Love Italian Movies Person Of The Year.

Born on March 4, 1964 in Livorno, Italy, director Paolo Virzì’s “the other Paolo”, giving Paolo Sorrentino a run for his money with his most recent film, Il Capitale Umano (Human Capital).

Sorrentino may have won the Oscar (for La Grande Bellezza), but Virzì won more prizes back home in Italy for Human Capital. Based on a book by American author Stephen Amidon, Human Capital is the captivating story of two families, greed, and a poor guy who has the misfortune to be riding his bike one night when everything is blowing up for them.

Virzì’s no one hit wonder, and many of his films are available to US audiences in DVD form, streaming, and in US film festivals.
