Win Tickets To Black Souls, Opening April 10

To celebrate the April 10th opening of ‘Black Souls’ (Anime Nere), we’re having a contest!

VITAGRAPH FILMS BRINGS US ‘BLACK SOULS’

Beginning next weekend, director Francesco Munzi’s ‘Black Souls ‘(Anime Nere) will open in theaters around the United States, beginning with the Angelika Film Center in New York City on April 10.

Based on a novel by Gioacchino Criaco , Black Souls is being called by some “the new Gomorra”, but Anime Nere’s  “not just a mafia movie”. In it, three brothers from a Calabrian crime family see the future of the family’s heroin/goat herding organization in different ways. The interactions are authentic and the dialogue in Calabrian dialect realistic; mafia movie aficionados will find the criminals in Anime Nere satisfying, those who just love a good family drama will be equally drawn in.

“This isn’t the story of a Mafia war, this is a war within one family”, said Munzi, “with all the cultures and contradictions that are inside all families”.

Leo Tolstoy said “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”, but there’s a commonality with families in conflict. Personal agendas, parent/child clashes, old wounds, and/or money squabbles are usually factors in family feuds, and in a crime family, even more so.

So here’s your challenge: In one sentence, tell us about your family; a disagreement, a moral standoff, or your own personal war with relatives that just can’t seem to be resolved. The most interesting will win two tickets to the screening of your choice.

Take a look at the theaters and dates below, and let us know which you’d like to be there for, and send in your entry by Wednesday April 8.
